Lane closures planned for Hwy 55 Mendota Bridge
Deck sealant being applied

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists may encounter congestion and delays on the Hwy 55 Mendota Bridge crossing the Minnesota River between Fort Snelling and Mendota beginning early Monday, Aug. 15.  Two weeks of maintenance work on the bridge deck will begin at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15 and last until Friday, Aug. 26.  During the project, maintenance crews will apply an epoxy sealer/overlay on the bridge deck to prolong the life expectancy of the deck for up to 20 years.

The ramps between Hwy 5 and the Mendota Bridge will be closed intermittently during the week of Aug. 22 and motorists should follow the signed detours.

The project is dependent on fair weather and may be postponed in the event of rain or high winds.

The historic Mendota Bridge, which opened to traffic in 1926, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A new deck was built between 1992 and 1994.
