Stillwater Lift Bridge may stay open in event of government shutdown

 

Roseville, Minn. — The Stillwater Lift Bridge could remain open if a state government shutdown occurs July 1, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said today.

 

MnDOT is including operation of the lift bridge as a core critical function in its contingency planning efforts, pending a final Court ruling.

 

After consulting with public safety officials and health care providers over the past several days, the agency determined that the bridge is a core service critical to maintaining life and health safety. The bridge will remain open primarily to allow ambulance traffic to continue between Minnesota and Wisconsin.
