West 78th Street north of I-494 to close June 20
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a road closure and traffic changes on West 78th Street (north of I-494) between West Bush Lake Road and Braemar Boulevard beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, June 20.
West 78th Street will close between Braemar Boulevard and the Abbott Northwestern Clinic (8100 West 78th Street) for approximately two months. During the closure, West 78th Street between West Bush Lake Road and the clinic will be reduced to one lane for westbound traffic only. To the north of the closure, West 78th Street will remain two lane, two-way traffic between Valley View Road and Braemar Boulevard.
A temporary entrance ramp from W. 78th Street to northbound Hwy 169 will be constructed to maintain access to the freeway. One-way traffic on W. 78th Street will be detoured past the road closure to the ramp to northbound Hwy 169.
Motorists should follow the following detour route to access W. 78th Street, east of the southern closure point:
- Temporary ramp to northbound Hwy 169 to Valley View Road to southbound Hwy 169 to eastbound I-494 to East Bush Lake Road
Traffic on West 78th Street will remain in this configuration until approximately late August, weather permitting. At that time, West 78th Street will remain one lane for westbound traffic only starting at West Bush Lake Road, but motorists will be able to continue on West 78th Street past the new roundabout to Valley View Road.
Part of the Hwy 169/I-494 Interchange Reconstruction project, the closure is necessary as crews begin roundabout construction on West 78th Street.
