I- 35E single lane traffic begins June 16

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience delays and increased congestion in the northern Twin Cities Metropolitan Area beginning Thursday, June 16.

Northbound I-35E will be reduced to a single lane between Ramsey County Road 96 and the I-35E/I-35W/I-35 split in Forest Lake.
Ramp meters have been installed at County Road 96, County Road J and County Road 14 and will be operational once the single lane configuration begins.

Southbound I-35E will remain open to two lanes through the third week of June. However southbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane at County Road 14 as crews repair the culvert at that location.

Toward the end of the third week of June northbound and southbound I-35E will be switched to a single lane on the northbound lanes of I-35E, when crews begin rehabilitation to the southbound lanes.

After crews have completed resurfacing, guardrail repair and culvert repair on southbound I-35E they will complete identical work on the northbound lanes. Both directions of I-35E will be reopened to two lanes in November.

This project aims to provide a long-term solution to the existing roadway. The existing pavement will be removed from the concrete below and replaced with a concrete overlay, which will provide durability and a smoother ride.

The project also includes replacement of the box culvert that carries Clearwater Creek underneath I-35E, located just south of the I-35E/Anoka County Road 14 interchange in Lino Lakes.
