I-35 resurfacing project begins May 8 in Chisago County
Project was originally scheduled to begin April 18

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Mn/DOT will begin a resurfacing project on I-35 between one mile north of Hwy 8 near Forest Lake and Hwy 95 in North Branch at 8 p.m., Sunday, May 8. Paving will begin on the inside, northbound lanes and traffic will be restricted to a single lane.
The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2011.

Most of the work that requires lane restrictions and ramp closures will be done during off-peak times.

The project also includes fencing repairs and new pedestrian ramps and accessible pedestrian signals.

This project will require lane closures; however, southbound lane closures will be prohibited weekdays between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., while northbound lane closures will be prohibited weekdays between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Lane closures will not be allowed weekends, except northbound lane restrictions can start after 8 p.m., Sunday evenings.

On the evenings of May 9, 10 and 11 a Washington County project to remove the County Road 2 (Broadway Avenue) bridge will begin. This work will coincide with Mn/DOT’s work on I-35 and may cause additional traffic back-ups. For details on the Broadway Avenue bridge project please visit: http://www.broadwayaveforestlake.info/

Mn/DOT is resurfacing the pavement on I-35 because it has reached the end of its expected life cycle. When completed this resurfaced section of I-35 will be smoother, quieter and safer.
