Motorists reminded to use caution as night maintenance work takes place across the Twin Cities Metro Area
Announcement emphasizes Governor’s proclamation of Public Works Week May 15-21
ROSEVILLE, Minn. –Motorists in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area and in Greater Minnesota are reminded to use caution as Mn/DOT’s night-time spring and summer maintenance activities take place.
In the Twin Cities Metropolitan area three collisions have occurred since April 27 between motorists and Mn/DOT maintenance crews. In each instance a motorist rear-ended a Mn/DOT vehicle at night as crews performed sweeping operations to remove sand and small debris from various roadways.
Night maintenance work, including sweeping, guardrail repair, cable median barrier repair, pothole patching and other activities, takes place all across Minnesota and involves hundreds of employees.
Governor Dayton has proclaimed this week as Public Works Week in Minnesota because public works infrastructure, facilities and services are of vital importance to the health, safety and well being of the people of Minnesota.
