Traffic signal changes to remain in place at Hwy 169/I-494

New configuration becomes part of the Hwy 169/I- 494 reconstruction project

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The traffic signals recently reconfigured at the Hwy 169/I-494 interchange and the Hwy 169/Highwood Drive-Townline Avenue intersection will remain in place.

These traffic signals were optimized in March 2011 in order to create a continuous green light for Hwy 169 traffic in order to relieve congestion when Hwys 101 and 41 closed due to flooding, and movements at the signals were limited to right turns. Crashes near the interchange and intersection have decreased since the enhancements were put into place, and the current configuration will aid Hwy 169/I-494 project staging and scheduling.

Motorists can expect the following:

Detour maps for local roads will be available on the Hwy 169/I-494 project website by the end of April. The traffic signal optimization is expected to remain in place as crews reconstruct the northbound lanes of Hwy 169 and potentially until the new frontage road system opens in late 2011.
