Input sought on environmental document for Hwy 5 project
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists and residents interested in viewing or providing feedback on the draft version of the Categorical Exclusion (CATEX) document for a 2012 project to improve Hwy 5 between Chanhassen and Victoria may do so when the document is released for public comment on Monday, April 4.
The public comment period will close on Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
The draft CATEX describes the proposed project, its potential environmental affects and any mitigation to them. It also includes the preliminary de minimis finding that the project would not result in adverse affects to a small portion of land near the Arboretum. Any comments received regarding this issue during the public comment period will be taken by the Federal Highway Administration in making its final de minimis determination.
The full document, including the de minimis finding, will be posted online and may be downloaded or viewed at the project’s web site www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/hwy5victoria/index.html.
Those without computer access may view printed copies of the CATEX document at the Landscape Aboreteum in Chaska, Chanhassen City Hall, Victoria City Hall, and the Victoria Express Library at the Victoria Recreation Center.
To request the document in an alternative format contact Bruce Lattu at 651-366-4718 or 1-800-657-3774 (Greater Minnesota); 711 or 1-800-627-3529 (Minnesota Relay), or send an e-mail to bruce.lattu@state.mn.us. Requests should be made at least one week in advance.
