March 24 joint meeting outlines upcoming construction activity
Lafayette Bridge, Ramsey County, City of St. Paul and Met Council construction projects to be highlighted
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Information about road and bridge construction activity in St. Paul will be highlighted at a joint meeting on Thursday, March 24 at St. Paul’s Union Depot.
Mn/DOT invites the public to learn about construction work and scheduling on the Hwy 52 Lafayette bridge project. Additional information will be available about the Union Depot restoration, Central Corridor Light Rail Transit and City of St. Paul’s 2011 construction.
Drop-in office hours are scheduled for Thursday, March 24, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the St. Paul Union Depot, 214 East 4th Street in downtown St. Paul. Additional meetings will be scheduled for other locations.
Preliminary construction work on the Lafayette Bridge began in early January. The existing bridge spanning the Mississippi River east of downtown St. Paul is a steel plate girder structure that opened to traffic in 1968. Completion of the new bridges and adjacent work is scheduled in 2014.
