Mn/DOT, Taylors Falls benefit from recent property exchange

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The city of Taylors Falls and the Minnesota Department of Transportation recently exchanged property in Taylors Falls — Mn/DOT traded its downtown truck station property for a long-term space lease at the Taylors Falls Public Works Department.

“It is important that Mn/DOT continue to have a physical presence in this area to deliver critical snow and ice removal and other services,” said Bev Farraher, Mn/DOT Metro District maintenance engineer. “We look forward to many successful years of co-located operations.”

“Mn/DOT, the Chisago County HRA-EDA [Housing and Redevelopment Authority – Economic Development Authority] and the city of Taylors Falls have worked hard on this project for the past three years,” said Mayor Michael Buchite. “I appreciate everyone’s willingness to make this happen in a way that truly benefits all of us. It’s a win-win situation — my thanks to the good people at Mn/DOT.”

A ribbon cutting event and brief program is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the City Hall campus located at 637 B First Street, Taylors Falls, MN 55084.

Mn/DOT and the city of Taylors Falls made the property exchange using a cooperative agreement and minimal financial resources.
