Removal of Rice Street bridge over Highway 36 scheduled November 12-14

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Demolition of the Rice Street bridge over Highway 36 in Roseville is scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 12-14. During the bridge removal, Rice Street will be closed between County Road B and Minnesota Street from 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, through 5 a.m., Monday, Nov. 15. At the same time, Highway 36 will be closed at Rice Street. The ramp from southbound I-35E to westbound Highway 36 also will close and traffic will detour around the loops to reach the westbound highway.

Highway 36 traffic will detour up and down the Rice Street ramps in each direction.  Rice Street traffic will be detoured on County Road B or County Road B-2 to Dale Street to reach Highway 36.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays.  Local traffic is reminded to drive safely on city streets during the closure.

The project, which began in early July, includes replacement of the Rice Street
bridge and reconstruction of Rice Street and side streets between County Road B-2 and County Road B.
The entire project is expected to be complete in November 2011.
