Removal of Rice Street bridge over Hwy 36 rescheduled for Nov. 19-22

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Demolition of the old Rice Street bridge over Highway 36 in Roseville is rescheduled for Nov. 19-22. The work was cancelled due to last weekend’s snowstorm.

During the bridge removal, Rice Street will be closed between County Road B and Minnesota Street from 10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19, through 5 a.m., Monday, Nov. 22. Rice Street traffic will be detoured on County Road B or County Road B-2 to Dale Street to reach Highway 36.

At the same time, Highway 36 will be closed at Rice Street and traffic will be detoured up and down the ramps at Rice Street.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays.  Local traffic is reminded to drive safely on city streets during the closure.

The project, which began in early July, includes replacement of the Rice Street bridge and reconstruction of Rice Street and side streets between County Road B-2 and County Road B.  .

The entire project is expected to be complete in November 2011.
