85th Avenue in Brooklyn Park closing this weekend
Crews will paint bridge, finish grading at County Road 81
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Bridge painting will require a weekend closure of 85th Avenue (Hennepin County Road 109) in Brooklyn Park as crews paint the new Highway 169 flyover bridge spanning 85th Avenue in Brooklyn Park.
85th Avenue will be closed between the ramp from southbound Highway 169 and Hennepin County Road 81 from 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25. During the closure, motorists should follow the signed detour.
In case of inclement weather, bridge painting will continue, however grading work will be rescheduled for later during the week.
The Highway 169 Triangle project is rebuilding the triangle-shaped area created by Highway 169, Hennepin County Road 81 and 85th Avenue (Hennepin County Road 109) in Brooklyn Park and Osseo. The three roadways comprised one of the most congested signalized intersections in the Twin Cities Metropolitan area. Two nearby railroad crossings add to the congestion and delays.
When completed by July 2011, the $53-million project will have upgraded the condition of the highways, improve safety, reduce congestion and increase capacity.
