Lane closures scheduled for eastbound Interstate 494 Wakota Bridge
New surface to improve skid resistance
ROSEVILLE, Minn. —Motorists on eastbound I-494 at the Wakota Bridge between Newport and South St. Paul will encounter lane closures beginning at 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 22 as crews perform surface tests on the new bridge span.
Depending on the results of tests, additional lane closures may continue through the weekend in order to allow crews to apply deck treatment.
During this operation, the ramp from Hardman Ave. to eastbound I-494 and the exit ramp to Maxwell Ave. from eastbound I-494 will be closed and detoured.
The bridge deck is being treated to improve drivers skid resistance and reduce surface glare.
Motorists are encouraged to reduce their speed and follow the posted detour signs during the ramp closures.
