Eastbound I-694 and ramp closures scheduled this weekend at I-35W
Crews continue to widen eastbound I-694 crossing I-35W in Arden Hills, New Brighton
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Eastbound Interstate 694 will close at 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 as crews make bridge repairs as part of the project to widen the eastbound Interstate 694 bridge crossing Interstate 35W on the border of Arden Hills and New Brighton.
At the same time, the loop from eastbound I-694 to northbound I-35W will close until Monday morning, Oct. 11. During the loop closure, crews will repair the slope pavement beneath the bridge and make drainage, ramp and other repairs.
During the closures eastbound I-694 traffic will detour south on I-35W, east on Highway 36 and back north on I-35W to reach the eastbound interstate. Motorists on eastbound I-694 will use Highway 65 and Highway 10 to reach northbound I-35W.
Work to widen the north side of the eastbound I-694 bridge began in early July and the ramp from southbound I-35W to eastbound I-694 closed July 6. The ramp will remain closed until the end of September.
Motorists should expect overnight lane closures throughout the duration of the project. Additional weekend closures are planned for I-35W and I-694 in October. Information will be provided when closures are scheduled.
When completed in mid-October, the project will improve traffic flow by extending the merge area on the eastbound roadway and will increase safety and lessen congestion.
