Highway 101 likely to close by noon today due to high water

Ditch block to be built at northbound I-35W between Cliff and Black Dog

Roseville, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close both directions of Highway 101 spanning the Minnesota River between Scott County Road 69 in Shakopee and Carver County Road 61 by 12 noon today due to high and rising water from the Minnesota River.

The roadway will remain closed until further notice, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during the closure.

In addition, the right lane of northbound I-35W will be closed at 10 a.m. today as Mn/DOT crews will build a protective ditch block perpendicular to northbound I-35W at Cliff Rd. in Burnsville in order to protect businesses and northbound I-35W traffic from encroaching backwater from the Minnesota River.

The right lane of northbound I-35W at Cliff Rd. will reopen by 3 p.m. today.
