Irene Hixon Whitney Pedestrian Bridge closing today
Bridge will be closed for 20 working days for rehabilitation
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience delays on I-94, Lyndale Avenue and Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis as the Irene Hixon Whitney pedestrian bridge spanning I-94 in Minneapolis closes beginning June 1 for rehabilitation work.
The bridge will be closed for 20 working days as crews replace the wooden deck and do touch-up painting. Overnight lane closures on I-94 and daytime, non-rush hour closures of Hennepin Avenue and Lyndale Avenue will occur during the work period.
Access for pedestrians and bicyclists will be maintained during the project. Posted detours will direct bridge traffic south to Vineland Place in order to cross Hennepin Avenue.
