I-35W/Hwy 62 Crosstown construction schedule changed due to rain
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Traffic changes originally scheduled to begin this week for the I-35W/Hwy 62 Crosstown Reconstruction Project are pushed back to next week due to rain. Motorists will encounter traffic changes, new detours and increased congestion when construction begins Monday, May 17.
The changes include:
- Postponed: Major traffic switch on westbound Hwy 62. The changeover of traffic to the new lanes on Hwy 62 between Portland Avenue and I-35W is now tentatively scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. Monday, May 17. After 5 a.m. Monday, the ramp from westbound Hwy 62 to northbound I-35W will become a left lane exit.
- Postponed: Portland Avenue long-term ramp closure. The ramp from Portland Avenue to westbound Hwy 62 is tentatively scheduled to close Monday, May 17 at 5 a.m. the ramp will remain closed until August, and the Portland Avenue Bridge will remain open during this closure.
- Postponed: Nicollet Avenue short-term closure. Nicollet Avenue at I-35W is tentatively scheduled to close 9 a.m. – noon on Monday, May 17.
The posted detour routes include:
- Nicollet Avenue South: West 61st Street to Lyndale Avenue to West 66th Street
- Nicollet Avenue North: West 66th Street to Lyndale Avenue to West 61st Street
- Postponed: Diamond Lake Road: long-term ramp closure. The Diamond Lake Road ramp from northbound I-35W closure has been postponed until the middle of next week.
