Hwy 95 repaving project begins in Stillwater on April 19
Motorists in Stillwater will experience minor delays because of a repaving project that begins on Monday, April 19. Hwy 95/Main St. in Stillwater will be closed between Mulberry St. and Elm St. as crews repave the roadway and replace a culvert. A signed detour will direct motorists around the closure, which will be in place for one week.
The project will also include resurfacing Hwy 95 between Myrtle St. and the Hwy 95 split by Hwy 36 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily. In addition, the project includes resurfacing Chestnut St. between the Stillwater Lift Bridge and Hwy 95/Main St. on April 26 and April 27 when Mn/DOT is closing the Lift Bridge for repairs. Hwy 95, approximately four miles north of Hwy 96, will also be repaved.
Several improvements tied to the Americans with Disability Act will be made at intersections in downtown Stillwater. These include the addition of truncated domes, which are small cone shapes added to the surface at intersections for the sight impaired and ramp replacements to allow individuals in wheelchairs to more easily navigate intersections.
The entire project is anticipated to be completed by June 4, weather permitting.
