Historic pedestrian bridge in Shakopee closes for rehabilitation
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Those using Shakopee’s recreational trail system will encounter a bridge closure and intermittent trail closures as the Holmes Street pedestrian bridge, just west of Highway 101 in Shakopee, closes for repairs and historic preservation.
The bridge, which is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, will re-open June 3, 2011. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to use a marked alternate trail around the work zone during working hours.
In addition to the repairs and rehabilitation work, crews will install ADA-compliant concrete ramps that allow wheelchair access.
The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
