Public hearing scheduled for Highway 212 expansion plans
Draft environmental documents available, public invited to comment on early plan
(Roseville, Minn.) – Area residents, business owners and others will learn about the preliminary design and draft environmental documents for the potential expansion of Highway 212 in Carver County at an open house and public hearing to be held on Tuesday, Jan. 26.
While no construction is planned at this time, the project, if approved and funded, would expand Highway 212 from two lanes to four lanes between Cologne and Carver and include an interchange at County Road 43 near Carver.
The open house and hearing will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cologne Community Center, 1211 Village Parkway. Attendees are invited to view display boards and speak directly with Mn/DOT representatives between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. A formal presentation on the Environmental Assessment/Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EA/EAW) will begin at 5:30 p.m., with an opportunity to provide comments for the public record at 6 p.m.
The EA/EAW, the preliminary project layout and other project information can also be seen on Mn/DOT’s web site at www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/new212/. Copies of the EA/EAW also will be available at Carver City Hall, Cologne City Hall, and Norwood Young America City Hall.
Comments on the EA/EAW must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, in order to be included in the public record. Comments may be submitted at the open house or sent to Mn/DOT South Area Engineer Nicole Peterson, 1500 W. County Road B-2, MS 050, Roseville, MN 55113, or by emailing nicole.peterson@state.mn.us.
