Minnehaha Creek Closing to Water Traffic
While Minnehaha Parkway at 35W closes intermittently

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Canoeists and kayak enthusiasts may encounter intermittent closures of Minnehaha Creek itself in Minneapolis as Minnehaha Parkway at Interstate 35W closes intermittently beginning later this week.

The closures will continue through mid-September. Part of the Crosstown reconstruction project, the closures of the parkway and the creek are needed as crews remove the northbound I-35W bridge spanning Minnehaha Parkway.

During the closures, at least one pedestrian or bike path along Minnehaha Creek at I-35W will remain open. The path, however, may be intermittently closed to safely conduct work.

Motorists should follow the posted detour route for the parkway closures.

During the closures, access across I-35W will be available at the 42nd Street bridge, 46th Street bridge, 50th Street bridge, Diamond Lake Road bridge, and the 60th Street underpass.

The bridge demolition will not impact traffic on northbound I-35W, as traffic from 49th Street to the Highway 62 junction has been re-routed to the southbound lanes of I-35W.

For more information on the I-35W/Highway 62 Crosstown Reconstruction project, visit www.mndot.gov or call the Crosstown Project hotline at 1-866-743-6590 or send an e-mail to crosstown@rranow.com.

Mn/DOT reminds motorists to slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. For statewide traffic, construction and travel information visit www.511mn.org or call 511 or log onto www.mndot.gov
