Nighttime lane restrictions and ramp closures on I-35W start Aug. 9
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Motorists will encounter intermittent nighttime lane restrictions on northbound and southbound Interstate 35W between Burnsville Parkway and I-494 starting at 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 9 and continuing through 6 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15.
In addition, motorists will encounter nighttime ramp closures on the following portions of I-35W from 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. the week of August 10:
- All ramps on northbound I-35W between Burnsville Parkway and I-494
Closed overnight Monday, Aug. 10 through Tuesday, Aug. 11 - All ramps on southbound I-35W from I-494 to Burnsville Parkway
Closed overnight Wednesday, Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 14
Detour routes will be posted for motorists during these ramp closures.
The work is part of the ongoing reconstruction of I-35W from Burnsville to downtown Minneapolis that is funded by the Urban Partnership Agreement. The UPA projects will improve traffic flow by reducing congestion on I-35W, Highway 77/Cedar Avenue and in downtown Minneapolis using transit, road pricing, technology and telecommuting.
The UPA is funded by $133.3 million in federal funds and $50.2 million in matching state funds.
