Ramp from southbound I-35W to southbound Hwy 13 in Burnsville to close June 9
ST. PAUL, Minn. –Motorists will encounter a detour as the ramp from southbound Interstate 35W to southbound Hwy 13 in Burnsville closes at 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, June 9. The ramp will remain closed for approximately two weeks as work continues on the construction of an additional southbound lane on I-35W.
Detour route:
Go south on I-35W to the northbound Hwy 13 exit
Proceed north on Hwy 13 to the following exit for northbound I-35W
Proceed north on I-35W to the following exit for southbound Hwy 13
Motorists will continue to experience intermittent, nighttime lane restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on northbound and southbound I-35W between Hwy 62 and Burnsville Parkway through July, while crews continue to resurface the existing roadway and construct overhead sign structures.
The work is part of the ongoing reconstruction of I-35W from Burnsville to downtown Minneapolis that is funded by the Urban Partnership Agreement. The UPA projects will improve traffic flow by reducing congestion on I-35W, Hwy 77/Cedar Avenue and in downtown Minneapolis using transit, road pricing, technology and telecommuting.
The UPA is funded by $133.3 million in federal funds and $50.2 million in matching state funds.
