Old Hwy 12/Wayzata Boulevard now open in Orono
Luce Line Trail bridge to reopen later tonight
ROSEVILLE, Minn. - Traffic is moving again on Wayzata Boulevard/Old Hwy 12 between Hennepin County Road 6 and Old Crystal Bay Road in Orono.
The roadway reopened to traffic around 4 p.m. It had been closed for reconstruction since late April 2009 as part of the overall project to build the new alignment of Hwy 12 in Long Lake and Orono. During the closure, construction crews removed and replaced unstable soil in the area and rebuilt the portion of the roadway on the west end of the Hwy 12 bypass project.
The refurbished Luce Line Trail bridge that was placed above old Hwy 12 at the east end of the project also is slated to reopen by 10 p.m. tonight. The structure was removed from a different location and rehabilitated during an earlier construction stage on the new Hwy 12 alignment between Wayzata Boulevard and Hennepin County Road 6.
