Intermittent, nighttime ramp closures on northbound I-35W in Burnsville to start May 18

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Motorists will experience intermittent, nighttime ramp closures on several exit and entrance ramps on northbound Interstate 35W in Burnsville between Monday, May 18, and Friday, May 22. The ramps are:

Ramps will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. for approximately two hours.  Only one ramp will be closed at a time at the Hwy 13 and I-35W interchange.

The work is part of the ongoing reconstruction of I-35W from Burnsville to downtown Minneapolis that is funded by the Urban Partnership Agreement.

The UPA projects will improve traffic flow by reducing congestion on I-35W, Hwy 77/Cedar Avenue and in downtown Minneapolis using transit, road pricing, technology and telecommuting. With the completion of UPA projects, commuters will experience more transportation choices, less traffic congestion and reduced commute times on one of the busiest roadways in Minnesota. This project’s goals reflect Mn/DOT’s strategic direction to develop innovative multi-modal solutions and improve mobility of people and freight.

The UPA is funded by $133.3 million in federal funds and $50.2 million in matching state funds, and will create about 5,000 jobs.
