Entrance ramp from 98th St to northbound I-35W to close May 12-22

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The entrance ramp from 98th Street to northbound Interstate 35W in Bloomington will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 through Friday, May 22.  During this time, motorists will be detoured north on Lyndale Avenue to 94th Street.

In addition to the ramp closure, motorists will experience periodic nighttime lane restrictions on northbound and southbound I-35W between Hwy 62 and Burnsville Parkway through Friday, May 15. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. The purpose of these lane restrictions is to resurface the existing roadway and construct overhead sign structures.

The work is part of the ongoing reconstruction of I-35W from Burnsville to downtown Minneapolis that is funded by the Urban Partnership Agreement.

The UPA projects will improve traffic flow by reducing congestion on I-35W, Hwy 77/Cedar Avenue and in downtown Minneapolis using transit, road pricing, technology and telecommuting. With the completion of UPA projects, commuters will experience more transportation choices, less traffic congestion and reduced commute times on one of the busiest roadways in Minnesota. This project's goals reflect Mn/DOT's strategic direction to develop innovative multi-modal solutions and improve mobility of people and freight.

The UPA is funded by $133.3 million in federal funds and $50.2 million in matching state funds, and will create about 5,000 jobs.
