Stillwater lift bridge closed both in directions following truck crash this afternoon
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Highway 36/Wisconsin 64 Stillwater Lift Bridge across the St. Croix River between Stillwater, Minn. and Houlton, Wis. is closed this afternoon after a truck became wedged beneath the girders of the structure. The crash happened about 1:55 p.m. this afternoon.
Currently both directions of the bridge are closed to all traffic and the lift section of the bridge is not operational. Maintenance and bridge crews from the Minnesota Department of Transportation are on the scene along with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to assess the damage and determine how long the bridge will remain closed.
During the closure, motorists should follow the posted detour south on Highway 95 to Interstate 94 at Hudson, Wis.
