Week-long, in-depth inspection of Highway 52 Lafayette bridge begins Tuesday, Sept. 4

ROSEVILLE, MINN. - Motorists should expect delays next week during an in-depth inspection of the Highway 52 Lafayette bridge spanning the Mississippi River east of downtown St. Paul. The inspection is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Sept 4.

During the inspection, traffic will be restricted to a single lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each week day in the direction being inspected. The team of inspectors will begin on the northbound lanes of the structure. Once work is completed on the northbound side, the southbound side of the bridge will be inspected with similar traffic restrictions.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully past the inspection vehicles or use alternate routes to avoid congestion. Inspection activities will be cancelled in case of high winds or other inclement weather. The inspection will be completed by Wednesday, September 12, weather permitting.

The bridge was last inspected the week of June 11, 2007.
