Extraordinary enforcement kicks in again on Unweave the Weave project in Little Canada, Vadnais Heights
Roseville, Minn.— As construction ramps up this spring on the Unweave the Weave construction project in Little Canada and Vadnais Heights drivers are reminded to slow down and drive safely or risk being stopped by a Minnesota state trooper.
Continued concern about speeding and other dangerous behavior in the work zone is again being addressed this construction season by Minnesota State Patrol troopers. The extraordinary enforcement is paid for by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Troopers will monitor driving through the work zone on Interstates 35E and 694 and respond to crashes and other incidents in the work zone.
Troopers will work four-hour shifts throughout the construction season to enforce the reduced speed limits in the work zone. Days and times for the extraordinary law enforcement will vary.
Work zones can be danger zones if drivers don’t use caution and good judgment. Driving too fast, not paying attention, following too closely or stopping suddenly are the major causes of crashes in work zones. Most people who are killed or injured in work zones are in vehicles passing through the work area.
Extra enforcement throughout the construction zone will increase safety for the traveling public and construction workers on site. Drivers also are reminded that fines are doubled for infractions in the work zone.
