Roseville,
Minn. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) will close all northbound lanes of I-494 between Highway 62 and I-394, and all southbound lanes between Hwy 7 and Hwy 62 in Minnetonka . The closure will be in effect from 10 p.m. Friday, September 16 until 5 a.m. Monday, September 19, for demolition of the south half of the Excelsior Boulevard Bridge . Excelsior Blvd. traffic will be switched over to the new bridge on Thursday, September 15, at about 3 p.m.
All northbound I-494 traffic will be detoured at Hwy 62 to Hwy 169 and I-394 during the closure. Southbound traffic from Hwy 7 will be detoured to Hwy 169 and Hwy 62. In addition, eastbound Hwy 212 will be reduced to a single lane between Shady Oak Rd. and Gleason Rd. from 10 p.m. Friday, September 16 until 6 a.m. Sunday, September 18 for milling and paving.
Because both of these projects are occurring simultaneously, heavy traffic is expected on Hwy 62 and Hwy 212. Motorists are advised to use other routes if possible.
Mn/DOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN in the work zone and NEVER enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. Please join us in a safety partnership. For statewide traffic, construction and travel information visit www.511mn.org or call 511 or log on to mndot.gov
