Roseville,
Minn. On Monday, August 22, 2005 , depending on weather, a short segment of the Hennepin County LRT Bike Trail between County Road (CR) 4 – Eden Prairie Road and Candlewood Parkway in Eden Prairie will be closed and a bike trail detour will be established. The trail detour will follow Eden Prairie Road south to Candllewood Parkway and Candlewood Parkway west to where Candlewood crosses the existing trail. This detour will be in effect until fall of 2006 when this segment of the trail will be reopened. This trail closure and detour is needed to facilitate construction of the new Highway 212 interchange at Eden Prairie Road. When construction is complete, the trail will cross the new Highway 212 on a bicycle/pedestrian bridge west of the new interchange.
Construction on the new Highway 212 design-build project (11.8 miles in Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Chaska and Carver) is expected to begin in late August. The segment between Eden Prairie Road and Dell Road will be complete by the end of 2006. The segment between Dell Road and Powers will be complete by the end of 2007; and the entire project will be complete by the end of 2008.
