Traffic Camera Installation Begins July 18 on Interstate 494

Roseville, Minn.— The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) will begin installing traffic camera equipment along Interstate-494 from Highway 5 in Minneapolis to Hardman Avenue in South St. Paul and from Lake Road in Woodbury to the juncture of I-494 and I-94.

Normal construction hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with some nighttime road closures as needed. The project will be completed on October 18, weather permitting. Motorists will have minimal traffic impacts due to the cable and camera installation.

When the project is complete there will be an additional eight cameras and 86,645 ft. of fiber optic cable installed. The cameras will provide valuable information to the Regional Transportation Management Center regarding this roadway.

Mn/DOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN in the work zone and NEVER enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. Please join us in a safety partnership. For statewide traffic, construction and travel information visit www.511mn.org or call 511.
