(Roseville, Minn.) – Reconstruction and paving of the highway shoulders along Snelling Avenue (Highway 51) north of the Midway Area in St. Paul begins Monday, morning, April 25. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane on northbound Snelling Ave. between Pierce Butler Route and Como Ave. early Monday morning. Around
9 a.m., southbound traffic will be restricted to a single lane through the same area too. The 24-hour-a-day lane restrictions will last approximately three days. The ramp from Energy Park Drive to southbound Snelling Avenue also will be closed Monday morning for approximately three days. A detour route will be posted.
Additional work on the project includes repair and replacement of catch basins that collect storm water along the road’s shoulder and pavement changes for bus access along north and southbound Snelling Ave. This work will require modifications to the signal system at the intersection of Snelling and Larpenteur Aves. During the work, motorists will encounter occasional non-peak lane closures along Snelling Ave. from Pierce Butler Route to Highway 36 through early June. Installation of a new signal system also will require non-peak lane closures this spring.
Weather permitting, work will be completed by mid-June.
