(Roseville, Minn.)— Additional traffic restrictions will begin Tuesday, April 19, as crews shift into high gear on two projects on Interstate 94 east of downtown St. Paul. Motorists will encounter lane closures on eastbound I-94 between Highway 120 (Century Avenue) and Washington County Road 13 (Radio Drive) for approximately one week as crews finish concrete pavement repairs that were begun last year.
The following week, traffic will be restricted on the westbound side of the interstate through the same area for bridge and pavement work. Traffic will be maintained in two lanes most of the time for this work, although motorists will encounter intermittent loop closures in the I-94/I-494/I-694 interchange. Detour signs will guide motorists during the closures.
Also, crews have begun work on the bridges and pavement as part of the third lane expansion of I-94 between McKnight Road and Highway 120 (Century Ave. in Maplewood ). This work will last throughout the year. Traffic will be maintained two lanes in each direction most of the time throughout the project area, but there will be short-term single lane traffic during nights and non-peak hours.
Mn/DOT reminds motorists to SLOW DOWN in the work zone and NEVER enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. Please join us in a safety partnership. For statewide traffic, construction and travel information visit www.511mn.org or call 511.
