Early Saturday Morning Closure Set for Interstate 94 in Maplewood
Traffic restrictions in place this winter for third lane expansion project

Roseville, Minn.— Interstate 94 in Maplewood will be closed in both directions and detoured from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday) morning between Ruth Street and Highway 120 (Century Avenue) in Maplewood. During the closure, crews from Excel Energy will relocate powerlines from the west abutment of the McKnight Road bridge to allow for construction of new bridge abutments for the I-94 third lane expansion project.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid any delay. Traffic will detour along Ruth Street, Highway 5 and Century Avenue during the work. Traffic is currently restricted to a single lane on north and southbound McKnight Road and Century Avenue beneath the interstate for the winter months. And lanes on I-94 between McKnight Rd. and Century Ave. are narrowed until next spring.

New bridges are being built at McKnight Rd. and Century Ave. to carry an additional lane of I-94. Lane drops in this area cause a significant bottleneck for the nearly 100,000 vehicles using this stretch of the interstate each day.

Road work begins on mainline I-94 next spring with completion by the fall
of 2005.

Traveler information, including incident reports, is available by calling 511 or logging on to www.511mn.org. Know the Road. Dial up or log on.
