Minn. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) will open the Glen Road./Highway 61 interchange in NEWPORT, the weekend of Sept. 4-5. The postponement in opening the Glen Rd. Interchange, which was scheduled for mid-August, was due to a delay in the delivery of the signal pole that spans the interchange.
With the opening of the Glen Rd. Interchange other closures will occur as work continues on the Wakota project.
The St. Paul Park (SPP) Interchange will close Tuesday, Sept, 7. The ramp from SPP Rd. to northbound Highway 61, which provides access from 70 th St., will close Friday, Sept. 10. Alternate routes for the SPP Interchange are the Glen Rd. and 80th St. Interchanges in Newport and Cottage Grove. The SPP Interchange is scheduled to reopen fall 2005.
The 20 th St./Highway 61 signalized intersection in Newport will permanently close Tuesday, Sept. 7. This access was replaced by the Glen Rd. Interchange.
