I-35W/Highway 62 Crosstown Commons Reconstruction Project Environmental Assessment/Worksheet Available Public Hearing Scheduled for July 22

     

Roseville, Minn.—The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) has prepared an Environmental Assessment/Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EA/EAW) for the proposed I-35W/Highway 62 Crosstown Commons Reconstruction Project. The public is invited to read and comment on the EA/EAW for the next phase of the environmental impact process.

The public is invited to a public hearing/open house to be held on July 22, 2004 at the Mayflower Church , 106 East Diamond Lake Road in Minneapolis from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mn/DOT staff and design consultants will be on hand to answer questions in lieu of a formal presentation. Written comments on the EA/EAW will be accepted during the 45-day comment period, which ends on August 19, 2004 . Mn/DOT will use the comments in deciding whether there are potential significant impacts to the environment, and whether an environmental impact statement is needed. The proposed project will separate I-35W and Highway 62 in the Commons Area, reconstruct the I-35W/Highway 62 interchange, add an HOV lane on I-35W between 66 th Street and 46 th Street, add a general purpose lane on I-35W between Highway 62 and 42 nd Street, and increase capacity on Highway 62 between Penn Avenue and Portland Avenue. The project limits are on I-35W from 66 th Street in the City of Richfield to 42 nd Street in the City of Minneapolis , and on Highway 62 from Penn Avenue to Portland Avenue .
