Roseville,
Minn.Motorists will encounter traffic restrictions on Interstate
35E throughout the next month during a project to repair and resurface
three bridges north of downtown St. Paul. The three bridges carry
I-35E traffic over Pennsylvania Ave., the BNSF railroad tracks
(north of Pennsylvania Ave.) and Cayuga St.
Work
begins at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 18, on the southbound side of the
interstate and motorists will be restricted to two lanes of traffic
during peak periods between University Avenue and Maryland Avenue.
During off-peak times and throughout the weekends, southbound
I-35E traffic will be reduced to a single lane between 5 p.m.
Friday evenings and 5 a.m. Sunday mornings. Beginning Sunday evening,
April 25, the exit ramp from southbound I-35E to Pennsylvania
Ave. will close until early May.
When
the southbound side of the interstate is completed in early May,
work will switch to the northbound side of the interstate, with
traffic restricted to a single lane on the northbound lanes of
I-35E through the same area. At the same time, the ramp from Pennsylvania
Ave. to northbound I-35E will close and traffic should follow
the signed detour. Off-peak and weekend traffic will again be
restricted to a single lane of traffic from 8 p.m. Friday evenings
through 5 a.m. Monday mornings. The northbound lanes of the interstate
(and the entire project) should be completed by mid-May.
Motorists
may encounter congestion and delays during the project. No ramps
or loops will be affected by the work.
