Roseville,
Minn.- The ramp from southbound Interstate 35E to southbound
Highway 52 (Lafayette Freeway) just east of downtown St. Paul
will close on Tuesday, September 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to remove
barrels currently preventing errant motorists from striking bridge
piers on the East 7th Street bridge.
During
the closure, Minnesota Department of Transportation maintenance
crews will pour an eight-inch thick concrete pad for the installation
of a collapsible crash attenuator. The attenuator, which replaces
the barrels, will collapse if struck by a motor vehicle protecting
the vehicle occupants. The attenuator will be installed the following
week. (More information to follow).
Motorists
will follow a signed detour from southbound I-35E onto 10th St.
and then west to Jackson St., north to 11th St. and onto eastbound
I-94 for approximately one-fourth mile to the southbound Hwy.
52 exit.
Mn/DOT
urges motorists always to drive with caution and reminds them
to SLOW DOWN in work zones and NEVER enter a roadway that has
been blocked with barriers or cones. For updated statewide traffic,
