(Roseville,
Minn.) Motorists will encounter overnight lane closures and single
lane traffic beginning Sunday evening, August 10, during restriping
of five and a half miles of Interstate 694 between I-35W and Highway
252 through the cities of New Brighton, Fridley and Brooklyn Center.
Crews will work from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following
day, Sunday night through Friday morning.
Work
will begin at Highway 252 and head east. Once the eastbound lanes
are restriped, work will move to the westbound lanes moving west
back to Hwy. 252. Ramps and loops between I-694 and adjoining
roadways will close for short periods of time when there is work
nearby.
Crews
will grind off the old latex paint lane markings from the interstate
and restripe the roadway with more durable and longer-lasting
epoxy paint. The new epoxy paint lasts between five and eight
years and saves time and money compared with latex paint, which
lasts between one and two years.
Weather
permitting, the entire project will be completed before the Labor
Day weekend.
