Roseville,
Minn. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT)
will begin crack sealing and microsurfacing on two metro area
roadways beginning at
6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11.
Crews
will begin on eastbound and westbound Highway 55 between County
Road 50 near INDEPENDENCE and Old Rockford Road in PLYMOUTH. Weather
permitting, the Highway 55 segment is scheduled for completion
by Aug. 24.
Crews
will begin the Highway 7 portion of the project, from Shady Oak
Road in MINNETONKA to Christmas Lake Road in EXCELSIOR on or around
Aug. 25. Weather permitting, the Highway 7 segment will be completed
by Sept. 4.
Crews
will operate from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day until completion
of the two projects. Motorists may expect short-term overnight
lane and/or shoulder closures for the duration of both. Traffic
in the various two-lane sections of the roadways will be controlled
by flagger and pilot car.
Microsurfacing
involves applying a thin layer of bituminous material to the affected
roadway, which results in a smooth, long lasting surface.
Mn/DOT
urges motorists always to drive with caution and reminds them
to SLOW DOWN in work zones and NEVER enter a roadway that has
been blocked with barriers or cones. For updated statewide traffic,
