Highway 65 (Central Ave.) Bridge, Intersection Projects Begin July 7; Expect Long-Term Lane Closures

Roseville, Minn.— The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) will begin work on a Highway 65 (Central Ave.) bridge and intersection in MINNEAPOLIS on July 7.

Traffic will be reduced to a single northbound and a single southbound lane on the 3rd Ave. Bridge spanning the Mississippi River as crews replace the bridge’s expansion joints and rehabilitate the concrete roadway surface of the bridge. The single-lanes will be in effect through the end of October 2003, weather permitting.

In addition, crews will begin rehabilitating the roadway surface at the
Central Ave./Broadway Ave. intersection on July 7. Both northbound and southbound Central Ave. and eastbound and westbound Broadway Ave. will be reduced to a single lane through this work zone until early September 2003, weather permitting. The signals will be replaced with four-way stop signs temporarily, and trucks WILL NOT be allowed to make right-hand or left-hand turns at this intersection during construction.

Mn/DOT urges motorists always to drive with caution and reminds them to SLOW DOWN in the work zone and NEVER enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. For updated statewide traffic, construction and travel information visit www.511mn.org.
