Roseville,
Minn.—The
overnight lane closures on westbound I-94 through the Lowry Hill
Tunnel will continue through March 2 as crews complete the westbound
phase of the new tunnel lighting system. The recent cold weather
snap and unexpected complications have contributed to this extension
of the westbound phase.
The
weekly work schedule will remain as previously issued: all westbound
lanes will re-open to traffic by 5 a.m. each day, and no weekend
work will take place (i.e., no Friday or Saturday 11 p.m. closure.)
The
completion date for the entire contract is May 16, 2003 includes
both the Lowry Hill and Portland Ave. Tunnels.
The
EASTBOUND phase of the Lowry Hill Tunnel lighting project is scheduled
to begin on March 14, 2003. Similar overnight closures are scheduled
to take place through April 25. The Portland Ave. Tunnel will
be refitted with an identical lighting system by May 16, 2003.
Mn/DOT
urges motorists to drive with caution during these lane closures
and reminds them to SLOW DOWN in the work zone and NEVER enter
a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones. Please
join us in a safety partnership.
