WAKOTA PROJECT UPDATE

      

(Roseville, Minn.) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) announced that the following roads would be affected by the ongoing construction associated with the Wakota project on Highway 61.

  • Hastings Avenue is open to 70th Street;
  • Hastings Avenue will be closed at 12th Street and a local detour will be marked;
  • 65th Street (County Road 22) will reopen on October 18;
  • 7th Avenue north between 12th and 16th Streets is closed;
    Glen Road intersection and High Street intersection will be closed permanently at Highway 61 on Wednesday, October 23;
  • Southbound Highway 61 traffic will be moved onto the northbound Highway 61 temporary bypass on October 30. All traffic will be on northbound roadway with two lanes in each direction;
  • At 12th Street there will be no left-hand turns off of Highway 61 northbound or southbound;
  • I-494 will be closed for one weekend (9 p.m. Friday - 5 a.m. Monday) in early November for removal of the Bailey Road bridge over I-494. The detour will be posted on I-94 and Highway 61.

Construction on the Wakota project will continue during the winter months.

Mn/DOT urges motorists to drive with caution, reminding them to SLOW DOWN in the work zone and NEVER enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
