(Roseville,
Minn.) - Deck and railing repairs are set to begin the weekend of
August 9 on the Highway 97 bridge crossing Interstate 35 on the
south end of Forest Lake. The bridge will close to traffic at 8
p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, and reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12.
The bridge will again close to traffic the next weekend to complete
repairs between 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug.
19.
Following completion
of the bridge repairs, work will begin Aug. 19 on both ends of the
bridge from West Freeway Drive (Anoka County Highway 21) to Eureka
Avenue/Hornsby Street. The project includes widening the shoulders
along Hwy. 97, building right turn lanes and installing signal systems
on each end of the bridge, roadway resurfacing and improvements
and expansion to the storm sewer system in the interchange of I-35
and Hwy. 97.
During the roadwork,
traffic will be maintained as one narrow lane in each direction.
Prior to installation of the signal system, motorists will encounter
a four-way stop at each end of the bridge.
Weather permitting,
all construction will be completed by early October.
