INTERSTATE 94 LOWRY TUNNEL WASHING SCHEDULED THIS WEEK

(Roseville, Minn.) - Warm weather, green grass and outdoor barbeques are sure signs of spring. And another sure sign of spring is the annual spring cleaning of the Lowry Tunnel on Interstate 94 near downtown Minneapolis, which begins tonight.

Tonight and Tuesday night, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will clean the eastbound side of the tunnel from 10 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following morning. The westbound tunnel will be cleaned Wednesday and Thursday nights this week. During the work, whichever side of the tunnel is being cleaned will close and traffic will detour on the prohibited vehicle route.

Tunnel washing is scheduled rain or shine and will be completed by Friday morning.
