WORK BEGINS ON HIGHWAY 61 IN WYOMING

(Roseville, Minn.) - Resurfacing and widening of Chisago County Road 22 from the west county line to Interstate 35 and on Highway 61 from I-35 to Chisago County Road 30 in Wyoming begins Monday morning, May 15th. The cooperative partnership among the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Chisago County and the city of Wyoming also includes reconstruction and widening of the County Road 22 bridge over the interstate and installation of signals to control traffic on the ramps at the I-35 bridge. A second signal system will be built at the intersection of County Road 22 and Highway 61 in the city of Wyoming.

The project also includes construction of new turn lanes along with improvements to the storm sewer along the roadway. At the same time, the city of Wyoming will make out water main and sanitary sewer improvements.

During the work, the contractor will operate up to 12 hours a day, Monday through Saturday. Motorists should watch for narrowed lanes and occasional lane closures on County Road 22 near the I-35 bridge. Interstate 35 traffic will encounter occasional non-rush lane closures as crews pour new concrete piers to widen the south side of the bridge. Resurfacing operations will require a single lane of traffic with flaggers on the two-lane roads.

Weather permitting, the entire project will be completed by early November.
