REPAIR WORK PLANNED ON HIGHWAY 100 FROM EXCELSIOR BOULEVARD TO INTERSTATE 494 (Roseville, Minn.) -- Beginning, Sunday, May 7, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) will begin concrete rehabilitation work on Highway 100 from Excelsior Boulevard to Interstate 494 in St. Louis Park. On Sunday, crews will begin work on the southbound lanes of Highway 100. Beginning Monday morning, May 8, motorists can expect to find two of the three southbound lanes of the highway closed for approximately the next two weeks and lane closures for the following two weeks while crews repair pavement, bridges and catch basins. Then, work and lane closures will move to the northbound lanes of Highway 100 for approximately a month. Long-term, 24-hour-a-day lane closures are required to allow the concrete pavement to cure. The cost for this roadway rehabilitation project is $2.3 million dollars. Based on a traffic study completed in 1999, 68,000 cars a day travel this portion of the roadway. Weather permitting, work will be completed by late July. Mn/DOT asks motorists to join in a safety partnership and drive with caution in work zones, allow for extra time or plan an alternate route to reach their destinations.
