PAVING SCHEDULED FOR HIGHWAY 7 IN HENNEPIN COUNTY (Roseville, Minn.) -- Beginning, Monday, May 1, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) will begin paving operations on Highway 7 from Christmas Lake Road in Shorewood to Hennepin County Road 101 in Minnetonka. Highway 7 will be restricted to a single lane in each direction for the first month of the project, then change to non-rush hour lane closures for the remainder of the project. Crews will begin setting the westbound center lane closure early Monday morning. Eastbound lane closures will be set after morning rush. Work also includes construction of median barrier. The construction costs for this project is $2 million. On an average, 42,000 cars a day travel this portion of the roadway; based on a 1998 study. Weather permitting, work will be completed by August, 2000. Mn/DOT asks motorists to join in a safety partnership and drive with caution in work zones, allow for extra time or plan an alternate route to reach their destinations.
